Summer is the best time for a student to earn course credit when he or she needs a second chance to pass a required course. Because the Learning Lab program holds AdvancEd accreditation, courses taken and completed satisfactorily in Summer Learning are transferable to other schools. Please note that the number of hours listed below is a guideline reflecting the minimum contact hours required for credit to be earned. It is possible an individual student will need additional hours to complete a course, at an additional hourly cost. Homework & outside preparation for class will be expected as well.
For those enrolled in online courses or course recovery, and those who need some extra support, Learning Lab provides expert tutoring to help students understand the subject matter and related materials. Learning Lab tutors have successfully helped students with Keystone, Penn Foster, Florida Virtual School and A+ programs, as well as others. Tutoring packages with special summer discounts for online coaching are available.
Effective study skills can unlock your student's learning potential by teaching them how to study, prepare, and excel in any academic course at any level. Without the pressure of a full course load, summer is the best time to discover these strategies that can optimize your child's academic success for life. Learning Lab offers summer study skills toward the end of the summer term to help students prepare for the new academic year.
Test scores often determine whether or not students earn acceptance to the school of their choice. Learning Lab's 10-hour Test Prep class can help you to increase your standardized test scores by teaching strategies for optimizing your time and improving your overall test performance. Our program uses actual ACT tests and is unique and proprietary to the Learning Lab; it has proven to enhance a student's scores. The materials and program for this class are available only at the Learning Lab.
Let the Learning Lab prepare your child for Kindergarten and he or she will be ready for the next big educational leap. This program is for students entering into Kindergarten in the fall.

This intensive reading intervention is designed for students who struggle with decoding, fluency, and/or phonemic awareness. Learning Lab will introduce the Wilson curriculum, which was designed for students with dyslexia or other diagnosed reading disabilities, but it's also very effective for undiagnosed students who struggle with the mechanics of reading. This curriculum has been proven to provide measurable results.
Summer tutoring at the Learning Lab will give your student an academic advantage when the new school year begins. It can offset summer knowledge loss, increase knowledge and provide skills and confidence for future studies. In the Learning Lab's personalized learning environment, our professional tutors work one-on-one with your child to overcome learning issues in any subject from grades K through 12, catch up in a challenging subject, or sharpen learning skills and test strategies for the future.
The Learning Lab specializes in study skills, as well as math and reading intervention. We also have packages in test prep and behavior modification tutoring.
Personalized tutoring is scheduled individually via the Learning Lab. Discounted tutoring bundles are available (potentially get up to 4 free hours of tutoring!) Contact the Learning Lab for more information.
Reading should be fun, imaginative and an adventure for the mind. With a little imagination and a pinch of inspiration, reading can be an enjoyable adventure at any age. Typical areas of interest for students who want to improve their reading skills include reading comprehension, reading fluency, learning to enjoy reading, comprehension of subject area texts, literary analysis, and more.
We will also feature a one-week camp this summer at both locations called Everyday I’m Calculatin’. This camp will focus on a thorough exploration of fractions, decimals, and percents, making fractions fun, and connecting fractions to everyday life. Your student will gain a better foundational skill set, become equipped to learn higher level math concepts that build on fractions, and improve their confidence by decreasing their anxiety surrounding fractions.
This year, the Learning Lab is featuring four one-week sessions of STEAM summer camps – two each at our Brentwood and Green Hills area centers – for students third through eight grades. Our individual STEAM projects will focus on different technical disciplines to help students enhance problem solving and critical thinking skills and provide exposure to a wide range of STEAM activities.
Students who sign up for a one-week STEAM Camp will participate in five different projects during the week – a different project each day – ranging from designing and building a balloon powered racer, to designing and making a kaleidoscope that will refract light waves, constructing a windmill to convert wind energy to mechanical energy and many more. These projects will include opportunities to work with different aspects of STEAM disciplines, including robotics, design, art and more.
We have carefully scheduled our STEAM Camps to pair with traditional learning opportunities, particularly our Adventures in Reading and Everyday I’m Calculatin’ camps, if you are interested in signing your student up for half a day during those weeks. Students may sign up for one or more of the one-week STEAM Camps.
