Psychological and emotional factors

Often psychological issues compound learning difficulties. Problems with anxiety, self esteem and depression can result in learning problems; emotional problems may give rise to academic problems.
Learning Lab can help identify or rule out these emotional factors. Parent interviews, child interviews, review of history, specific tests and clinical impressions are all part of the psychological evaluation process.

Diagnoses that the state and schools recognize

Testing may also yield diagnoses that the state recognizes and which qualify a child to receive special services or accommodations at school. These diagnoses could include giftedness, learning disabilities or attention deficits.

If parents can show assessment results indicating their child requires it, college entrance exams and other standardized tests can be modified to accommodate individual needs. These modifications may even extend to the college level.
