Why I’m With Learning Lab
I have been with Learning Lab since 2004. It has been a rewarding experience working in a place that utilizes all of my training and experience. Learning Lab has a fabulous work environment where I can work with students individually, as well as maintain a supervisory role.
I love the challenge of addressing the diverse issues our students face. Every student is different and should be approached with an understanding of how their varied needs must be served.
My Credentials and Experience
I received my bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. Following graduation, I worked for two years as a Behavioral Specialist with developmentally disabled adults. I then obtained my Master’s degree in Communications Disorders from The University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.
My experience includes internships in a hospital and an autistic classroom, and early childhood language remediation, as well as speech and language therapy for middle school children at a public school in Northbrook, Illinois. These experiences gave me a first-hand look at developmental issues involving reading deficits.
I moved to Nashville and began working at Learning Lab first as a tutor and then with the Assessment Center, providing educational testing services. I assumed the position of Reading Coordinator in January of 2008. As head of our Reading Center, I continue to stay on the front lines with students by directing our one-on-one tutoring programs.
