COMMON READING PROBLEMS

There's a multitude of problems that can affect a student's ability to read; however, some of the most common examples that we work with students to resolve are:

    • Difficulty in associating letters with sounds
    • A weakness in sounding out one-syllable words
    • Frustration and disinterest in age-appropriate books
    • Letter reversals (left for felt, stop for spot)
    • Skipping words or losing one's place on a page
    • Addition and omission of letters and syllables in words
    • Slow progress in developing reading skills
    • Difficulty with identification of sight words
    • Oral reading that is not smooth
    • Poor performance on tests
    • Weak spelling and written language skills
    • Difficulty in number reversals and recalling math facts

If any of the above problems are consistent with your child, contact us for a review of your child's situation.
