| Testing is an important decision, and The Learning Lab will assist you in determining whether or not an evaluation is appropriate in order to answer the questions you, the school or referring professional may have. If testing is appropriate, we can help select the right evaluation. Why Parents May Choose to Have Their Child Evaluated at The Learning Lab Parents may want information about their child's learning style, grade equivalents to measure yearly progress, skill strengths and gaps, cognitive levels, interfering attention or emotional challenges and recommendations on how to resolve problems and enhance abilities. Parents may suspect certain learning issues, however, once the factors are defined, parents can help their child more efficiently at home and can advocate more effectively with their child's school. Some parents want to keep test results confidential. The Learning Lab observes all HIPPA policies and standards to ensure the privacy of your child's testing. Furthermore, testing may reveal giftedness, learning disabilities, attention deficits and other diagnoses that the state recognizes and which will allow a child to receive special services or accommodations at his/her school. College entrance exams and other standardized testing services require current testing to allow modifications. These modifications may even extend to the college level.
